The instructors invited to teach at the University of Innovative Distribution are renowned wholesale-distribution thought-leaders. They are university professors, industry experts, authors, and consultants. Although many of our instructors have been with UID since its inception, the program strives to recruit individuals who have the expertise and/or offer a unique perspective on problem solving or addressing the latest industry topics. A professional speaker, university professor, humanitarian and sales and marketing executive, Gail provides audiences with specific and practical tools to achieve leadership, time management, business and communication success.
Jason is the managing partner of The Distribution Team. The Distribution Team specializes in providing excellence in inventory management training, business operations consulting and technology utilization to the wholesale distribution industry. Jason brings over 30 years of experience working in the distribution field. He has overseen various operational teams, managed small and large facilities, and served in an executive management capacity for the last 10 years of his distribution career.
Jay is a change agent at O-ring Sales and Service. He has been in distribution for 10 years working at the family business with his only prior experience being in sales 10 years before that. He has innovated in every area of his 35 year old family business from, warehouse flow, order entry/customer service, quality control, purchasing and now e-com. He’s fought battles with every person in his 20 person business making changes that benefit the group as a hole. Through many different initiatives, he’s helped get the most out of our little operation enabling us to do $10m in sales with only 18 people.
Al is Chairman and President as well as founder of the Profit Planning Group, a research and executive education firm headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. The firm works exclusively in the area of corporate financial planning.
Dirk is the leading advocate of change and innovation throughout wholesale distribution. He delivers a new voice, a new energy, and a new outlook. He founded UnleashWD in 2012 after he noticed the trend of innovation bypassing wholesalers and distributors. UnleashWD is now setting a bold agenda for the 300,000 distributors in the country.
Don is a passionate and powerful teacher. He is gifted at communicating the skills, tools and disciplines that are critical to success as a sales professional in a demanding, tough selling environment. Don is focused on each participant and is not self-focused or bent on talking about his background or ability. He is a precise coach that drives home the basics and fundamentals in such a way that the material becomes a part of the attendee’s daily regimens, practice and career! Salespeople will listen to Don’s training for days without losing interest or focus. Don’s personal insights during the dynamic training events produce acceptance and results that follow. We have thousands of testimonies to prove that. He understands distribution and manufacturing sales and has over two decades of experience working with hundreds of companies. Don’s methods include no complex and confusing theories—just solid sales fundamentals and hard work.
Mark Dancer is a leading authority on business innovation and digital transformation. Mark founded the Network for Business Innovation to strengthen the practice and impact of business innovation through awareness, advocacy, and research. As Fellow for the NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence, Mark works to help leaders create customer innovations as they compete with disruption from online marketplaces, globalization, and other market-changing developments.
Steve is the Chief Operating Officer for Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply, a distributor with over 220 branches nationwide. He is also a Partner with Indian River Consulting Group. He has over 25 years of experience in distribution strategy, marketing channels, sales, operations and leadership. He is a published author, a highly rated speaker, a faculty member at the University of Innovative Distribution and serves on the boards of three large distribution companies.
Randy has extensive background in both distribution and manufacturing makes him uniquely qualified to address the issues that both types of organizations face in today’s market environment.vv
Joe began his sales career in 1978 and sales management responsibilities in 1984. In his career, he has worked with manufacturers, reps, and distribution. His company, Palmetto Associates, has worked with over 1700 customers throughout the world. He has worked with many of the major trade associations and is a long-time faculty member with UID.
Ian has been the President and COO of Modern Distribution Management since 2017. For more than 50 years, MDM has been a source of thought leadership, news and data for the wholesale distribution industry.
Dan Horan is Senior Associate at IRCG. Joining in 2016, Dan brings his expertise in sales, marketing, branding and business strategy to the IRCG team.
Andrew, CEO of ShelfAware, is an entrepreneur, inventor, and business owner. Formerly the sales manager at the family distribution company, O-ring Sales & Service, he is now pursuing a new endeavor, a tech startup called ShelfAware, which is attempting to redefine industrial distribution by leveraging RFID technology, the internet, and the power of data. He is also lucky to work with his three equally talented and passionate brothers.
Dr. Julia A. Kalish has been a continuing lecturer Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, Purdue’s Polytech Institute, and Loyola University Chicago. She was the recipient of the Best Professor on Campus Reader Choice Award at Purdue, Best Undergraduate Teacher at Krannert, and an Honorary Purdue Old Master. She is a Project Management Professional, Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt, Army veteran, speaker, writer, thought leader, sleep advocate, defender of the Oxford comma, and a “NO” enthusiast.
Paul has a proven 20-year track record as a Safety and Disability Management leader. Within a workers’ compensation system, Paul excelled in multi-faceted senior management roles. Early in his career, he spearheaded a total reform of underwriting systems at WorksafeBC, resulting in the creation of a pricing model that directly reflects safety outcomes.
Pam has a unique background in both employment/labor law and Human Resources, which has contributed to her now serving as both a partner at Taft and as Taft’s own Chief Human Resources Officer. In her law practice, Pam represents and defends public and private employers in all aspects of employment and labor relations matters. She holds the distinction of being Board Certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in the practice of Labor and Employment law.
Bob Langdon, author of Managing Your Business for Profit, has been assisting business owners in achieving their sales and financial goals for over 25 years. Gaining comprehensive business skills working for PricewaterhouseCoopers and serving as the general manager for a rapidly expanding wholesale distribution company, enables Bob to understand the problems of the entrepreneur.
Linda is one of only 232 people world- wide to be inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame®, joining such notables as General Colin Powell, President Ronald Reagan and Brian Tracy. She has been a featured presenter for over 1,000 conferences and meetings worldwide for groups such as Jaguar Cars, the Kuwait Women’s Leadership Summit and McDonalds.
Michael Marks is a dynamic speaker, popular business author, and both an NAW Research Fellow and the Managing Partner of the Indian River Consulting Group. The boutique firm has worked with distributors of all sizes up to those over $40 billion in revenue per year. Mike sits on the boards of several distributors and provides arbitration and expert witness services for manufacturers and distributors in contract disputes.

Jim has over a decade of wholesale distribution financial advisory experience. During that time, he worked with more than two dozen leading wholesale distributors, including over a dozen "top-100" distributors in various market segments. He also worked intensively with acquirers of distribution organizations providing comprehensive industry searches, company screening and due diligence services such as competitive analysis, profitability enhancement evaluation and growth opportunities review to corporations and private equity funds as they considered distribution-related investments. Following his decade of advisory experience, Jim co-founded Supply Chain Equity Partners, the only private equity firm in the U.S. that was founded and built by distribution veterans and invests solely in distribution companies. SCEP has invested in 39 distribution companies since 2008.

Paul Reilly is the owner and president of Tom Reilly Training. He began his sales career at the age of 16 in St. Louis, MO. He has sold car washes, painting services, jewelry, propane, construction tools and fasteners, and medical equipment. Paul has over fifteen years of business-to-business sales experience. For six of those years, he sold tools and fasteners for the Hilti organization. Paul joined the Hilti Master’s club in 2010 and was recognized in 2011 with Hilti’s three million dollar sales club. Paul Reilly is a salesperson at heart.

She holds a Master’s degree and B.A. in business from New York Institute of Technology and has 20 years’ experience in Fortune 500 companies in various Management positions and CEO of my own consulting practice for 20+ years.
